Adding Meta Pixel & Conversions API for Customer Tracking

The Meta Pixel (formerly Facebook Pixel) helps track customer interactions on your Shopify store and measures your Facebook ad campaign performance.

By setting it up through the GTM Assistant, you can capture key events like: Page Views Add to Cart Purchases etc.

Here’s how to set up the Meta Pixel & Conversion API with GTM Assistant:-

Step 1: Open Facebook Business Settings

  1. Open Facebook Business Settings in a new tab.
  2. In the left sidebar, navigate to: Data Sources → Datasets & Pixels

Step 2: Locate and Connect Your Pixel ID

  1. Under Datasets & Pixels, select the dataset you want to use.
  2. Click Details.
  3. Then, click Event Manager.
  4. In the Overview tab, find the Dataset ID — this is your Pixel ID.
  5. Copy the Pixel ID.
  6. Paste it into the GTM Assistant setup under the appropriate field.
  7. Click Connect.

Step 3: Set Up the Conversions API

  1. Navigate to the Settings tab in your selected dataset.
  2. Scroll to the Conversions API section.
  3. Click Generate Access Token.
  4. Copy the access token.
  5. Paste it into the GTM Assistant configuration area.
  6. Click Connect to finish the integration.

Theme Compatibility

  • The GTM Assistant app has been tested and confirmed to work on the Dawn theme.
