Facebook/Meta Configuration

Adding Facebook Pixel for Customer Tracking

The Facebook Pixel, also known as the Meta Pixel, allows you to track customer interactions on your Shopify store and measure the performance of your Facebook ad campaigns. By setting up the Facebook Pixel through GTM Assistant, you can capture key data points like page views, add-to-cart actions, and purchases, which can be used to optimize your ad targeting and retargeting strategies.

Here’s how to set up the Facebook Pixel with GTM Assistant:

Step 1: Log in to GTM Assistant in Your Shopify Dashboard

  • In your Shopify admin panel, navigate to Apps and select GTM Assistant from your list of installed apps.
  • Once you’re in the GTM Assistant dashboard, go to the Services or Tag Setup section.

Step 2: Select Facebook Pixel Setup

  • In the Services section, locate Facebook Pixel among the available integrations.
  • Click on Facebook Pixel to begin the setup.

Step 3: Obtain Your Meta Pixel ID

To configure the Facebook Pixel, you’ll need your Meta Pixel ID. You can find this in your Facebook Business account:

  1. Log in to your Facebook Business Manager.
  2. Navigate to Events Manager.
  3. Select the Pixel you want to use and copy the Pixel ID.

Back in GTM Assistant, paste the Meta Pixel ID into the specified field.

Tip: Double-check your Pixel ID to ensure accuracy. A correct Pixel ID is essential for tracking to function properly.

Step 4: Start the Facebook Pixel Installation

Once you’ve entered your Pixel ID:

  • Click on Install Facebook Pixel to initiate the automatic setup.
  • GTM Assistant will configure the necessary tags and triggers to track standard Facebook events, such as PageView, AddToCart, and Purchase.

Note: The installation process may take a few moments. Please wait until GTM Assistant confirms that the Facebook Pixel has been successfully installed.

Step 5: Verify Facebook Pixel Installation

To ensure that the Facebook Pixel is correctly configured, you can use the following methods to test it:

  • In your Facebook Events Manager, check if the Pixel is receiving data.
  • Alternatively, use the Meta Pixel Helper browser extension to confirm that the Pixel is firing on your website.

Troubleshooting Tip: If you’re not seeing data, double-check that you’ve entered the correct Pixel ID and that the GTM Assistant connection is active.

Theme Compatibility

  • The GTM Assistant app has been tested and confirmed to work on the Dawn theme.
